Fife Coastal Path: St Monans to Anstruther
Spending a weekend walking sections of the Fife Coastal Path is a great way to get out in the sunny Autumn weather. After a short bus ride from Crail, we arrive in St Monans to begin our second section of the walk.
The walk is simple and easy, out of the village and then following the coast. Past the old windmill, the rocky shoreline is illuminated in the late afternoon sun. The joy of walking by the sea on a calm and sunny day like this is surely a reason the Fife Coastal Path came to be.
The charm of the small villages is also so inviting. We arrive into Pittenweem to have a hot chocolate and crepe at the well recommended Cocoa Tree Shop. Happily refuelled we head back out to walk home before the light fades.
The sky by now is fiery, and the Scottish seashore becomes awash with pink, purple and amber tones; a sight to behold.
We happily take our time to admire the luminescent clouds and shore and still make it back to Anstruther just in time for the sun to set.
Our section of the Fife Coastal Path was an easy stroll, made worth the time for the good weather, beautiful seashore and charming villages we encountered. The excellent fish and chips, and stunning sunsets might be a reason to return to Fife.
