Glow Springs
The weather almost certainly evokes mood. Storms mesmerise or terrify. Rain annoys or relieve. And the sun brings smiles. This is all the more evident when you live in Glasgow.

Spring is here and so Glasgow smiles. The parks are in bloom, even if the blossoms seem to struggle through the seemingly endless rains. But then, much more often than the stories of Glasgow depict, the rains end. And when the sun comes out, so do the Weegies.

Kelvingrove Park becomes filled with topless gents soaking up the Vitamin D, groups with 'BBQs' and frisbees, and all of us sitting on top of jackets (or towels and blankets for the better prepared). Even though it is only 15, maybe 18 degrees.

At first I thought this was ridiculous. But I am lucky - this type of weather is commonplace for us back home. So after six months of the Scottish winter, I get it. The sun is a treat to be enjoyed.

It took me 20 minutes yesterday to decide to leave the house without my woollen socks and boots, but birkenstock clad I made it to the park - where there was not a cloud in the sky. I lay there on my towel, soaking the sun up through my toes. And only huddling under my jacket on the odd occasion.

The city is beautiful in the spring, and no more so that when the sun is out and shining. I've not felt more like a Glaswegian then when I'm sitting in the park, surrounded by the other Weegies; all getting our rays of pick-me-up.
